26 E-MAIL EXCHANGE BETWEEN BRAUN AND OTTINGER
|
|
|
- I
am appalled by your e-mail exchange
on 9/26 after the fractious Board meeting
of 9/25.
First of all, Mrs. Braun, you cannot "control" the free speech of Board colleagues. You need to bite the bullet on pulled consent items, enable members to discuss them freely, vote them separately and then you as chair move on with the meeting. In my view, tabling consent items will result in a backlog that will do the district more harm than good.
Mr. Ottinger's suggestion to you to "change the by-laws requiring a vote to remove items from the consent calendar and reducing public comment minutes to 3 as per all other entities," is probably illegal and certainly authoritarian and undemocratic.
My calling out "consent" matters has nothing to do with doing my "homework," nor do I ever "pontificate." I make public for the record that which otherwise would be kept secret.
Finally, your intemperate and insensitive remarks about "shoot the both of them" and "get them both with one bullet' -- meaning John de Beck and me -- are beyond the pale. I will appreciate a public apology.
